The typographic photoseries I designed tells a story many of us know too well. It begins with the familiar sayings we grow up hearing, leading to the moment we're told to find a husband. The series follows our main character through a conversation with an "aunty" about a potential match, her contemplation of the proposal, and her eventual defiance—stepping on the aunty's words with raw emotion. My favorite image shows her closing the door on the idea of marrying this man, despite the pressure. The final shot captures her sitting proudly in her kameez, ready to live life on her own terms. This series felt crucial to the project, diving deeper into what it truly feels like when the pressure to marry becomes all too real for desi girls.
